Bernd Lichtenberg (born June 24, 1966 in Leverkusen) is a German writer. Lichtenberg wrote during his school days features for WDR radio. He later earned a degree in philosophy and religious studies, followed by an internship at Radio Free Berlin when he decided to study film at the Academy of Media Arts Koeln. In 1997 he wrote and directed the stage play, short film Déjà vu with Katrin Sass and Wolfgang Winkler. The big breakthrough, he celebrated with the screenplay for Good Bye, Lenin! (Directed by Wolfgang Becker). For this he received the German Screenplay Award 2002 and the European Film Award in the category "Best Screenplay".
